Kašperk Castle will commemorate 700 years from the birth of Charles IV, who Czechs call the "father of the country”. There will be jousting, dancing and feasting, just like in the Middle Ages,
Kašperk Castle looks very romantic in the picturesque countryside of the Bohemian Forest, however, the reason for its construction was purely pragmatic. It was established by Charles IV in order to protect the economically important Golden Path on the border with Bavaria. For this reason, the castle towers offer beautiful views of the Bohemian Forest foothills. Kašperk Castle stands 886 meters above sea level, being the highest situated royal castle in the Czech Republic. Take a trip here and look around its surroundings the same way his Majesty Charles IV used to.

Kašperk Castle is one of many places, which were more or less influenced by Charles IV during his reign. He founded  for example the spa town of Karlovy Vary, and also of course the iconic Charles Bridge over the River Vltava in Prague. There are many places similar to Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic; some of them may be viewed here.
