Summer with the Smell of Gasoline: the 5 Best Motoring Events in the Czech Republic

Summer in the Czech Republic brings excitement not only to tourists and cyclists, but also to fans of small, large, fast, old and any other imaginable type of motor vehicle.

Similarly as horse racing, car and motorcycle competitions are social events eagerly awaited by racing fans throughout the whole year. Fortunately, in the Czech Republic they can look forward to several of these, as they take place in the summer months in Prague, Moravia and North Bohemia. Czech roads will play host to shiny vintage cars, autodromes will see cars and trucks battling it out in races and motorbikes will be revving up at the speedway track as they do each year. All the events will be accompanied by the roar of engines and excited fans.

The Speedway Grand Prix of the Czech Republic enjoys a very good reputation worldwide, mainly thanks to three reasons, which are excellent organization, great location at the Markéta Stadium in Prague and a friendly atmosphere, created by the audience. Main events in August

August in the Czech Republic is the highlight of the entire year for motor sports fans. Moravia hosts not one but two major races. The most renowned and anticipated competition has traditionally been held in the Moravian city of Brno since 1950. In recent decades road racing motorcycles have been roaring round the famous Brno Masaryk Circuit in a race, which is included in the MotoGP World Motorcycle Championship series. Not surprisingly, it is attended by the best riders. The organizers of the event have been awarded the IRTA Best Grand Prix Trophy for their organizational skills several times. So, obviously, there is a lot to look forward to.

If you prefer four-wheel vehicles, head to Zlín at the end of August to witness the Zlín Barum Rally, which is included in the FIA ERC series. The super speed race tests the skill of drivers on the actual streets of Zlín. The starting line welcomes state of the art special vehicles as well as racing legends. The Czech Zlín Barum Rally has been ranked among the top events in Europe since 1983, when it was included in the European Championship series.

... is known by everyone who eagerly awaits truck races and have marked the date in their calendars when these monster vehicles will head for the Most Autodrome. Besides the actual competition the organizers have also prepared an additional adrenalin programme for children and adults. The beginning of September in Most in the Czech Republic brings thrills and an unrepeatable atmosphere!

Vintage cars have a special place in the hearts of automobile lovers. Undoubtedly, special attention will be paid to them in September in the beautiful Jeseníky Mountains. The Trofeo Niké graceful drive of exclusive historical vehicles will lead through this region of North Moravia and Silesia. The stops of the vintage cars’ ride will be conceived in the spirit of open air museum expositions. Organizers are also preparing a stylish accompanying program.

If you want to see a vintage car race, then you should definitely set out for Kutná Hora at the end of August (Aug. 19 – 21, 2016). Ranked among the best veteran car events in the Czech Republic, the Carlsbad Classic (Jul. 15 – 16, 2016) is held in the town of Karlovy Vary and combines the spa atmosphere with the elegance of classic cars. A traditional exhibition of vintage cars will be hosted in Jindřichův Hradec chateau this year (Aug. 7, 2016).
