Olomouc    

Thanks to its advantageous position, ancient university, spiritual and cultural traditions, it has been the natural centre of Moravia for many centuries. The historical heart of Olomouc, which is dominated by the Holy Trinity Column, which is included in the UNESCO list, is the second most important monument zone in the Czech Republic after Prague. You should certainly also try the local speciality – the famous Olomouc tvarůžky, cheeses legendary for their distinctive flavour and aroma.

Castles&Chateaus

Bouzov

The medieval Bouzov castle located close to Olomouc is definitely one of the castles in Moravia which you can’t miss. And not just because a number of movies were filmed on its premises - from Czech fairy tales to the Italian princess Fantaghiro, but also because unlike other medieval settlements, this castle has never gone to ruin. Starting in the late 15th century it was in the hands of the Teutonic Knights.

Čechy pod Kosířem

The Classicist chateau a short way from Olomouc in Moravia is surrounded by an English park but it became really well-known only thanks to modern art as the art-loving count family of Silva Tarouca had a friend – famous Czech painter Josef Mánes, who would regularly visit Čechy pod Kosířem and created his works there from 1849 to 1870.

Helfštýn

Above the town of Lipník nad Bečvou, lies one of the largest medieval castle ruins in the Czech Republic: Helfštýn Castle. The conservation reconstruction works have been going on for years there, so the castle is now fully prepared for the tourist season and its visitors.

Zbrašov aragonite caves (Zbrašovské aragonitové jeskyně)

The warmest caves in the Czech Republic with a temperature of 14 °C all year round can be found in the valley of the River Bečva in Teplice nad Bečvou spa. The warm mineral water rises up from great depths and creates unique cave decorations.

Holy trinity column in Olomouc

The Holy Trinity Column in Olomouc was conceived on the basis of the symbolism of the heavenly hierarchy. Over three levels, you can see statues of saints, relief work depicting the apostles and the personification of the Virtues. Above them you can see the sculptural group of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and at the very top of the column, is the dominant feature of the Holy Trinity. The fact that the empress Maria Theresa also participated in the consecration of the column is further testament to its importance.



Spa

Lázně Jeseník

Here, you wil find the Central Europe’s cleanest air. The Jeseník Spa owes its very existence and subsequent fame to Vincenz Priessnitz, its founder. Here in the 19th century he established the world’s first hydrotherapy institute and laid the foundation for a new field of medicine – hydrotherapy.

Velké Losiny

It is the oldest spa in Moravia with a tradition going back 450 years. The temperature of the local thermal springs here is 36°C . Thanks to this naturally heated water guests can treat neurological conditions and issues with the muscular-skeletal and respiratory systems. The thermal water is also used in health-restoring baths and for filling indoor and outdoor pools.

Museum of Olomoucké tvarůžky in Loštice
Try some genuine Olomoucké tvarůžky right on the spot where they are made. The tangy taste and aroma of these golden coins of maturing cheese will enchant all the gourmets among us. These delicacies were first mentioned in the 15th century. They are made from unset sour curd cheese and the whole two-stage process of maturation is a natural one. This cheese gains it inimitable flavour thanks to the natural conditions of the geographical area of Haná.
