The Principal Guest will be Conductor Designate Tomáš Netopil. Joining the orchestra as solo guests will be cellist Alisa Weilerstein and violinist Josef Špaček.
Soon after its founding in 1896, the Czech Philharmonic became the most noteworthy orchestra in the country – even as soon as before the First World War the orchestra had built a considerable reputation for itself in concert halls across Europe. Over the course of its 120 year history, the orchestra has fostered numerous significant personalities among its ranks. The Czech Philharmonic has always represented genuine artistic merit, and its tradition and success has uplifted it to a fundamental symbol of Czech culture. And it will do so again in 2018, when Czech Republic is celebrating 100 years of its story, 100 years since the “first republic” of Czechoslovakia. Cities that can look forward to it are Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Basingstoke and Dublin.
