8+1 Tips for Valentine’s Day in Prague
Still not sure what to do with your significant other on the most romantic day of the year – St. Valentine’s Day? Go to Prague! The Czech capital leads many of the lists of the most romantic cities in the world. Its charming, winding streets, amazing parks and cosy cafés are made for some romantic moments for two! Get inspired with our tips on how to have the best Valentine’s Day in Prague.

1. A romantic stroll is a must

Walk through Prague’s Old Town and Malá Strana districts hand in hand and enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere, often made complete with glittering snow in February… That’s what we call romance.

Discover Kampa island. There’s an amazing view of Smetanovo nábřeží with the National Theatre and Charles Bridge, which you should also cross – the whole historical centre with Prague Castle will be in the palm of your hand. If you’d like to have this magical atmosphere all to yourselves, visit the bridge early in the morning or late at night. But that's not all! On Kampa Island you can even find Little Venice - the area along the Čertovka canal.

Don’t miss Nový svět! You’ll feel as if you stepped back in time when you come to this picturesque corner with winding streets and small homes, tucked away from the tourist hustle and bustle (and you can smooch unnoticed).

And what about a stroll through one of the many Prague parks? You can enjoy some romance in any of them but one of the most beautiful ones is definitely the Průhonice chateau park. It is not only one of the largest parks in Europe, but it is inscribed by UNESCO together with the Prague historical centre. You’ll see why when you visit the park.

2. Sweetness in the heart, a treat on the plate

The Czechs say that love goes through the stomach! Sweeten your life in one of the many cafés that Prague is full of. Two of the most interesting ones include the Art Nouveau café in the Municipal House and the only Cubist café in the world, Grand Café Orient at the House of the Black Madonna. Or discover the charm of many popular cafés from the beginning of the 20th century. If you like cool barista places, get inspired by our list of the best modern cafés.

3. A romantic cruise on the Vltava River

One of the most romantic films of all times? Definitely the Titanic. Put yourselves in the place of Kate and Leo and confess your love on the waves. Naturally, your story will have a happy ending and will take place on the Vltava River. Take a cruise on a stylish steamboat, a cultural monument, or on a huge glass boat. Add a romantic dinner or lunch.

4. Fall in love with art

Holding hands, whispering in each other’s ears, immersed in the passionate energy radiating from the canvases of masterpieces… Discover the Prague galleries! You can admire famous Czech painter Alphonse Mucha's love for art at the unique iMucha exhibition until 10 March 2024. The amazing collection of works by world-renowned Czech-born artists František Kupka and Otto Gutfreund at the Kampa Museum will take your breath away. And the beauty of the medieval art displayed in the Convent of Saint Agnes cannot even be described, trust us…

5. Dive into Some Bubbles

They say that love will warm you up. But we recommend not taking any chances and warming up in other ways as well. Dive into some bubbles and get pampered! And do it stylishly. Czechia is known for its beer so why not take a beer bath as well? Relax in the wooden tub for two and then take a nap in a bed made of hay, for example, in the Beerland Spa. Would you like to combine the beer bath with a sauna? Then visit the Sauna Beer Spa. And if beer is not your cup of tea, you try a wine bath at Spa Pramen.

6. Love in the Heart and on the Stage

How to end a romantic day? With more romance! Sit down comfortably and listen to stories of love, whether at an opera, theatre or dance performance. Let the delicate tones of classical music inside churches, historical concert halls or the Spanish Synagogue carry you away. Take a peek into the fantastic and playful dark world of the black light theatre where objects move freely through space – in the very first black light theatre in the world, Black Light Theatre Srnec. If you love opera and ballet, your heart will melt in the National Theatre, in the State Opera or in one of the oldest theatres in Europe – the Estates Theatre.

7. Dinner in the Clouds

You can have a candlelight dinner as if from a film in many restaurants in Prague. But you will feel like you are in heaven only in the Aureola restaurant – highest one in Prague – where you can enjoy amazing views and food. You’ll have dinner at 109 metres above the ground. Your table for a special gourmet experience will be a few metres lower at the Oblaca restaurant in the iconic TV tower. You can also enjoy a unique view and menu on the seventh floor of the famous Dancing House, in the Ginger & Fred restaurant.

8. Find a Love Nest

When you have admired the sunset over Prague (one of the best places to watch the sunset above Prague Castle is Riegrovy sady at Vinohrady) and counted the stars in the sky, it’s time to close the door of your cosy room.

Experience real romance in the unusual Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa in the centre of Malá Strana. Or enter the magical world of music in the nearby Hotel Aria. The Art Deco Hotel Alcron has a special ambience and moreover, you can get one of the best brunches in Prague there. Or stay at the Mozart Hotel where not only the genius composer stayed, but so did the greatest lover of all time, Casanova!

9. For You with Love

The whole romantic adventure needs to end with a cherry on top. You can’t have a Valentine’s Day without a gift. She will love you even more if you give her some jewellery with the passionately red Czech garnet that you can’t buy anywhere else than in Czechia. Go find your love souvenirs in Pařížská Street. There – near the Old Town Square – you’ll find elegant shops from top Czech designers and famous boutiques to antique shops as well as shops with traditional Czech glass, porcelain and jewellery.
