Prague Bridges in the Palm of Your Hand

One of the most beautiful views of the centre of Prague is from the Hanavský Pavilion at Letná Park. The bridges and the Vltava River look best in the soft morning and evening sun. The lookout is unique because its location allows you to see most of Prague’s bridges lined up in a row. From Malá Strana, you can only see a few church spires, but you will have a beautiful view of Old Town. You will even see the National Theatre and Vyšehrad in the distance.

Timeless Prague Panorama

From Petřín hill, full of fruit trees, you can see the spires of Old Town. The spires are so diverse thanks to their historical development that they form a recognisable skyline. Do not miss Staroměstská mostecká věž (Old Town Bridge Tower), the tower of the Baroque Klementinum or the Church of Our Lady before Týn at Old Town Square. If you love taking photos, it is worth getting up a bit earlier. The view is oriented to the east so you can meet groups of photographers just before sunrise who wait for the few minutes when the rising sun leaves the horizon and floods the city with its golden rays.

Malostranská kotlina (Malá Strana Valley)

Below Strahov Monastery, away from the tourist trails, there is a white statue of the Virgin Mary from Exile. And the view of Prague from this statue is amazing. The view is dominated by Prague Castle and the green cupola of the Baroque Church of St. Nicholas. Directly below you will see the roofs of Malá strana and the spires of Old Town behind Charles Bridge. This view of the city is considered the best you can get.

Up to the Towers…

The views from Prague towers are also worth it. Climbing up the Petřín Lookout Tower, from where you can see the whole city, is a must. However, you should also try to climb the South Tower of St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle. There is no lift, so you have to climb the stairs. But the workout will be rewarded with a breath-taking view. Not only you will see Prague Castle from above, but you will climb up past the massive cathedral bells, which is an unforgettable experience. The South Tower is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., even in winter.

The Prague ZOO recently opened the Zakázanka scenic trail. The trail starts alongside the birds of prey and goes to the Obora Lookout Tower. You will enjoy unusual views of Prague along the way, and there is also a geological exposition that talks about the surroundings through which the trail goes.

The Žižkov Television Tower, currently the tallest Prague structure at 216 metres, is one of the Prague dominants. There is an observatory at the height of 93 metres, which is the only lookout tower in Prague that provides a 360° view of the city.
