Accommodations with Nature and an Old-Time Feel
Summer here and it is a perfect time for trips and spending time outside surrounded by nature. The Czech Republic has more to offer than just Prague, Český Krumlov, and historical fairytale towns. This country in the heart of Europe can also offer also places where time stands still. Places without any mobile phone reception, where you can recharge your energy and eat meals prepared just like Czech great-grandmothers used to, using exclusively locally-produced organic products. Places where your children can try out what it is like to take care of a homestead and learn that eggs and meat do not grow on the shelves in a supermarket. Such places are not just near Prague but also in South Bohemia, Moravia, and elsewhere throughout the country.

Homutův Statek in Central Bohemia

In the picturesque landscape of the Central Bohemian Kokořínsko region north of Prague, there is an oasis of peace and tranquillity. The Homut family farm has undergone a very sensitive reconstruction since its founding in the 19th century. In the pension, there are nine rooms and apartments, and you can choose to include only breakfast half-board. Here, you can eat delicious traditional Czech meals prepared from high-quality, local products. The pension has a big garden that invites both adults looking for relaxation but also children seeking action – it includes a sandpit and swings. There’s plenty more to do farther afield too: the Kokořínsko region is known for its beautiful footpaths and high-quality cycle paths. One of the most famous cycle paths, leading through the mine in the town of Kokořín, starts near the pension!

Červený Dvůr Apartments near Český Krumlov

Červený Dvůr is a stylish apartment-style pension in the heart of the countryside and, at the same time, not far from Český Krumlov. In the apartments, which are named after the nearby chateau, there are traditional tiled stoves, romantic bedrooms, and plenty of spaces for relaxation. The apartments are surrounded by a massive garden and woods all around. It is an ideal place not only for groups of friends but also for families with children who can fully enjoy themselves in the garden. The accommodation’s advantage is its wellness offering in the form of a Finnish sauna and the ability to order massages, wraps, and relaxing baths.

Statek Polžov in Southern Bohemia

Far from civilisation, in the middle of the South Bohemian woods near Český Krumlov, there lies yet another gem offering accommodation – a farmhouse in Polžov. Here, you will be surrounded by nature and animals, without any unnecessary modern technology such as mobile phones.
The local mobile reception is very unstable and there is no Wi-Fi, TV, or radio in the farmhouse. . .but don’t worry, your children will be excited about all the animals who live on the farm in Polžov. In addition to the sheep and rabbits, the owners also have small breeds of horses that are available for inexperienced riders. Of course, if you want, you can also take part in the work around the farm. And the Google reviews? Nothing but 5 stars. . .and that says a lot.

Jáňův Dvůr in South Moravia

This romantic farmhouse – an organic farm Jáňův Dvůr – is located in Nový Přerov, a village known for its wine not far from Mikulov in South Moravia. The vast historical building is a pleasant stop for cyclists, an oasis of peace for tired city dwellers, and a place where your children can collect memories. In the pension, you will feel like you are on holiday at your grandmother’s house. In the morning, you will be woken up by the bells of a nearby church and the bleating of goats. There is an in-house pub specialising in local products where you can have a taste of a delicious home-made goat cheese with a number of virgin oils. And what can you do here? Apart from resting, you can also ride a bike on the dozens of cycle paths that criss-cross Southern Moravia. You can also visit the nearby wine cellars. To top it all off, you and your children can even ride a horse or pony to the nearby vineyards!

In the picturesque village Jítrava, located in the undisturbed natured of the Lusatian Mountains, there is a hotel complex called Jítravský Dvorec with a restaurant and wellness offerings. It is located only a few minutes’ drive from Liberec, a city in North Bohemia. In the four-star hotel, you can enjoy a view of the night sky, which is among the darkest in the country thanks to the low amount of light pollution in this region. And the food is simply splendid! The meals here are made from the hotel’s own lamb and beef, both organically raised. The quality of local products, as well as careful processing and creativity, is thoroughly controlled. In the hotel, there are bikes at your disposal and wellness offerings including a whirlpool, a steam bath, and a sauna with a Scandinavian bath. You can also make use of massage services.

Centre Veronica Hoštětín is found in the White Carpathians in the south-east of the Czech Republic near the town of Luhačovice. The Centre is known for its long tradition of organic farming, and nowadays it also focuses on providing eco-education for children and adults. The pension has been built as a passive house and it is a shining example of ecological architecture. The modern interiors make use of natural materials, such as clay plaster, adobe bricks, straw insulation, and massive wood.
