Planning on taking the children on a trip? We’ve got plenty of tips to help you plan a great family holiday in Czechia.
Central Bohemia: A bike ride and a venture into a labyrinth
If you fancy an amazing biking holiday, we recommend the Elbe Route. It runs from the source of the Elbe in the Krkonoše Mountains to the North Sea and is one of the most popular EuroVelo routes in Europe. And you can enjoy lots of beautiful countryside and culture along the way. Head to the border with Germany to visit one of the most beautiful national parks in Czechia - Bohemian Switzerland. It looks like a fairy-tale land, with rock towns riddled with mysterious ravines, gorges and lovely viewpoints enjoyed by generations of hikers before you. Get a closer look at Czech traditions at the open-air museum in Přerov nad Labem! For real outdoor fun, try the Mirakulum in Milovice, a huge amusement park packed with unique attractions. Your little ones will feel like princesses or princes at Loučeň Château, which invites visitors to enjoy special children’s tours, as well as a unique labyrinth and the chance to stay in period suites. Our tip: Ride the Elbe Trail upstream, as you’ll have the wind at your back more often
East Bohemia: The road to hell along the world’s longest bridge
Have you been up the Sky Walk? A lookout tower that takes your breath away, not only with the views it offers, but also with its design. Or would you rather stroll along the longest suspension bridge in the world and ride the longest bobsled track in the whole of Czechia? You can do all this and more in Dolní Morava, a mountain resort with plenty to offer little ones and grown-ups alike all year round. And while you’re in East Bohemia, try the Čertovina fairy-tale hell at Hlinsko. What makes this place so special is that devils themselves put on a show! You can enjoy a ton of fun and fascinating activities in their company.North Moravia: Where industry and unspoilt nature meet
The north-eastern tip of Czechia is a unique blend of technical heritage sights and natural attractions. While in Ostrava, don’t miss Dolní Vítkovice, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Czechia. The former smelter and mine have been converted into a vibrant centre of fun and learning. It holds lots of great events for visitors of all ages throughout the year. Dolní Vítkovice is part of the Technical Trail, a unique walk around technical heritage sites. If you prefer nature and the countryside, visit Ostrava Zoo or head off to the Beskydy or Jeseníky mountains. The beautiful scenery there offers lots of fun for the kids. Amongst other places, we definitely recommend a visit to the Velké Losiny paper mill, the Kopřivná summer Funpark and the summer park at Bílá.South Moravia: An underground boat ride, or a bike trip to a château
You can start your visit to this sun-kissed region in Brno, Czechia’s second biggest city. One treat not to be missed is a tour of the Brno Underground, which you could always spice up with a look around Špilberk Castle. If romping around in the water is more your thing, try the nearby Aqualand Moravia! Whether you’re into hurtling down waterslides or prefer chilling out in the hot tub, Aqualand has something for everyone. And once you’ve had enough of the water, hire a bike in Lednice or Valtice and take a ride through the beautifully parkland of the Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape, a true UNESCO gem.Our tip: Visit the Moravian Karst. Take an adventurous cruise along the underground Punkva River and marvel at the exquisitely decorated limestone caves.
