Theatre and Music

We will advise you on where to go when the muses call

The Czech Republic has rich cultural roots and is the cradle of famous composers. Here you will find magnificent concert and theatre halls, and dozens of music and theatre festivals of all genres take place here every year. If the cultural scene is part of your DNA, then the Czech Republic is just the right spot for you.
For lovers of theatre arts, you can go to traditional stone theatres to see opera and ballet such as the Prague National Theatre, the National Theatre of Moravia-Silesia in Ostrava or the National Theatre in Brno. There are a total of six opera and ballet stages in the Czech Republic - Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Opava, Liberec and Pilsen. But you can also visit, for instance, the unique black theatre in Prague or the Ponec theatre in Prague, which specialises in stage dance. Historical baroque theatres are a whole different category in their own right. It is surprising that so many of them have been preserved in the Czech Republic and we can still admire their beauty to this day.

During the year, concerts and open-air theatrical performances await you, such as those held within the grounds of Český Krumlov Castle with a unique revolving stage in place of a standard fixed stage, or several other small-scale art theatre stages. And what about summer festivals and celebrations? Don't miss the multi-genre music festival Colours of Ostrava, which takes place on the unique industrial premises of Ostrava's Dolní Vítkovice, the United Islands of Prague, the new summer festival Letní Letná in Prague, the Noir Film Festival at Křivoklát Castle, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, or the Prague Spring classical music festival.
