Czech and Moravian towns have been important centres of Jewish religious and social life since the early Middle Ages and, fortunately, entire city quarters, synagogues and cemeteries were preserved despite the Nazi occupation. Even today, we can walk through Jewish neighborhoods, bow our heads at Jewish cemeteries or explore one of about two hundred synagogues. You can discover the complete picture of Jewish life at the Jewish Museum in Prague and develop awareness by strolling through Prague’s Jewish Town. You can take a guided tour through the Jewish Quarter and see other sites in, for example, Boskovice, while a part of the educational trail in the Jewish Quarter in Mikulov includes the ritual mikveh bath. The Jewish Quarter in Třebíč has just been enrolled in UNESCO thanks to the 123 list of preserved buildings.
