Ostrava, which won the prestigious title of European City of Sport in 2014, holds the annual IAAF Super Grand Prix track and field meeting Golden Spike. All the stars of track and field, including the best Czech athletes, come to this event of the year, and the stands are full of enthusiastic spectators. Men and women compete in dozens of disciplines at the meet, such as the 100 m, 400 m, 1,500 m and 20,000 m races, in the pole vault and high jump, in the long jump, shot put, discus, javelin, and others. The biggest star of recent Golden Spikes was multiple world record holder Usain Bolt.
