This village is renowned for the colourful beauty of its folk costumes, its winemaking, the richness of its musical traditions, its folk architecture, and especially its customs and traditions. The unique Ride of the Kings has attracted the attention of artists, ethnographers, folklorists, and lovers of folk art from around the world for two centuries.
Sipping some local Müller Thurgau or Pinot blanc (Rulandské bílé) in the one-of-a-kind complex of wine buildings known as búdy in Kojiny is an unforgettable experience. In addition to the wine, the locals also make excellent fruit distillates, which you can learn about at the Museum of Folk Distilleries. The tour concludes at the Smallholder’s House (Rolnický dům) – a typical dwelling with a scullery and a thatched roof from the turn of the 20th century. In a farmhouse you can see the inventory of a local museum called the Slovácko jizba along with folk costumes.
