Kvilda Mountain Village

Kvilda Mountain Village

This settlement in the heart of the Šumava Flatland is a popular destination for hiking and cycling all year round.

This mountain village on Hamer Creek with wooden timbered houses scattered around the surrounding hillsides went through an era of medieval gold panning and iron mills. Today the Kvilda Mountain Village is one of the favorite recreational areas in Šumava and a place where the hiking trails leave in all directions. From here you can go to Antýgl, to Povydří or Jezerní slať. It also holds the record for being one of the highest settlements in the Czech Republic with the lowest average year-round temperature.
