Premonstratensian monastery in Teplá

The spiritual centre of West Bohemia: Teplá Monastery

Immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere of Teplá Monastery, which is located not far from Mariánské Lázně. The monastery was founded at the end of the 12th century by the beatified Hroznata as compensation for the fact that he did not participate in one of the crusades.
He brought the Premonstratensian order to this spot, which then returned here after many years of disfavour in 1990 and gradually repaired the dilapidated complex. The Romanesque-Gothic church supplements the monastery complex, which was converted during the Baroque period by the famous architect K. I. Dientzenhofer. During the tour, you will see valuable exhibits from the collections of the monastery museum and library, which contain a rare collection of first impressions.
