The history of ore-mining in the Ore Mountains on both sides of the Czech-Saxony border is more than 800 years long. The Johannes Adit can be found in one of the most interesting ore mining areas in the Czech Republic: the Zlatý Kopec skarn district. Together with the Johannes Adit, they form a part of the Erzgebirge / Krušnohoří Mining Region, inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Johannes Adit was the largest mine in the district of Zlatý Kopec-Kaff. It is a uniquely preserved complex of historic mine workings where old miners dug out huge underground chambers, hard to see anywhere else in the world. The Johannes Adit invites visitors to explore its underground. Walk through 500 years of history through this historical mine working in two hours.
