Latrán is the name of the district as well as the main street that runs through it. It starts at the wooden Lazebnický Bridge and ends at the Budějovická Gate. The older of the two parts of the contemporary historic centre used to lie outside of the centre. It was not exactly a district inhabited by the nobility – the houses of Latrán were mostly home to the castle servants.
After all, even the former Church of St. Judoc provided for the ill and the poor at the time when it was established. Later, the population of Latrán started to change. The house no. 54, for example, was built by Josef Rosenauer, the architect of the famous Schwarzenberg Timber Floating Canal. But there are more civic houses that are worth mentioning due to their extraordinary decoration: especially House no. 53 and House no. 39 with a mural painting of the Rosenberg Rider, symbol of the House of Rosenberg. Also architecturally significant is House no. 37 and House no. 15 with valuable Gothic painting of the interiors.
