The studio of Egon Schiele in Český Krumlov

The studio of Egon Schiele in Český Krumlov

You will surely be enthralled by the charm of the house, in which the painter Egon Schiele worked and lived for several months in 1911.

The garden house clinging onto a rock above the Vltava offers a romantic and inspirational setting and its atmosphere is fascinating to artists and non-artists alike.  Today the house is once again available to the artists as a studio.
In the summer of 2015, it will be accessible to visitors as well. You can therefore freely enter the apartment with replicas of Schiele’s furniture, sit back and flip through art catalogues or books while sipping a cup of coffee.  On the upper floor, there is an attic studio, in which the works produced during the winter stays are exhibited in summer. You can also see the otherwise inaccessible terraces, where you have a unique chance to take in the mysterious atmosphere of the place. The genius loci is indeed very intense. The impression of fact that this space used to be the home of one of the most remarkable artists of the 20th century is empowered by the tall trees surrounding the spacious, multi-levelled terraces and by the nearby river.
