The Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape: Apollo’s Temple and an obelisk

The appearance of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, is significantly influenced by the small structures that the Liechtenstein family had built to beautify the landscape for their pleasure. On your visit you will see quite a number of these remarkable objects. One of them is Apollo’s Temple, on the banks of Mill Pond, from whose roof you can enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and lakes. Equally notable is the Temple of Diana, decorated with reliefs from ancient mythology. In addition to a number of stately homes you will also be captivated by the New Farm, a Great Moravian settlement called Pohansko (meaning Pagan), and an obelisk which was erected to commemorate the peace between France and Austria in 1797.
