A unique point of interest in Olomouc: ancient mythology on Baroque fountains

Get to know the Moravian city of Olomouc, a “city of soldiers and priests”, which experienced its heyday during the Baroque period. The spirit of that time is also reflected on the surfaces of the set of six unique Baroque fountains. The names of the Neptune, Hercules, Jupiter, Triton, Caesar and Mercury fountains show that the artists of the time drew inspiration from the mythology of antiquity. And this was not by chance. According to one legend, Olomouc was founded by the Roman Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar, and so he proudly sits astride a prancing horse on the square in Olomouc today. In 2002 the modern Arion fountain including a non-traditional turtle was added to these six. You can even swim in it when the weather is hot.
