Long strips of brown or green fields stretch to the horizon and seem to never end. The picturesque undulating landscape of southern Moravia is only here and there complemented by a lone tree, a small draw or a tiny white chapel. Photographers call the landscape around Kyjov, which resembles the undulating Italian landscape in its picturesque beauty, Moravian Tuscany.

When to come

The ideal season for photographing Moravian Tuscany is spring when the meadows glow with colour. Especially from the end of April to mid-May, the landscape is brightened by yellow rape. In autumn, the fields are ploughed, but the hills and the colourful and green lines between the fields stand out all the more.

Where to go

Moravian Tuscany is located in Moravian Slovakia, near Kyjov. The surroundings of the towns and villages of Strážovice, Následovice, Karlín, Hovorany, Šardice, Mistřín and Svatobořice will be a sure bet.
