Millions of years in the making, the Železné hory (Iron Mountains) offer visitors a wide variety of geological phenomena; combine a visit with trips to other interesting places. A extraordinarily diverse range of geological features can be seen in, for example, the sandstone rock formations of Toulovcovy maštale (Toulovec’s Stables), the Museum of Limestone Mining in Závratec near Třemošnice, the Museum of Shoes and Masonry in Skuteč and the small geopark in Chotěboř. Marked cycle and hiking trails lead to many of these places. You can, for example, take the Magma educational cycle trail from Hlinsko to Chrudim, or the educational trail around the village of Polánky in the heart of the Železné hory.
