Cycling through the picturesque countryside

In the footsteps of Rural Baroque

The Greenway cycle path connects to the backbone route from Prague to Vienna and connects 12 villages, where you will see the most beautiful examples of the unique architecture of Southern Bohemia, the so-called Rural Baroque. On the 36-kilometre route, which is marked by yellow bike signs in the shape of a decorative gable of a local country house, you can become well-acquainted with the local landscape and its history. The circuit mainly leads through flatlands, along district asphalt roads. The starting point is the town of Veselí nad Lužnicí, and the route passes through the village monument reserves of Mažice, Zálší, Klečaty and Blata. In each of these villages you will see examples of the so-called Rural Baroque, which are richly decorated gables of farm buildings and residential houses. The owners maintain their original form, and some houses also offer stylish accommodation.
