Žďár region

Žďár region

When viewed from a plane, the Žďár region is one large green carpet of forests interwoven with the blue surfaces of ponds.
Simply said, an ideal place for recreation and relaxation. It is also a home to many cultural and historic sites. Žďár nad Sázavou is adorned by a UNESCO site – the Church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená hora. Novoměstsko is on the other hand known for sports, the Golden Ski, a biathlon and a mountain bike race in Vysočina Arena, and the area surrounding Jimramov is known as the land of Jan Karafiát and his book Broučci. The Žďár region is part of the Koruna Vysočiny destination, which also includes the Nedvědice and Tišnov areas in the South Moravian region.
