MICE roadshow 2013 tours North American cities

The roadshow through North American cities conducted during 3–12 June concluded with great success. The theme was to promote the Czech Republic as the ideal congress destination. This unique campaign visited Dallas, Washington, D.C., Toronto and Chicago. The roadshow was organised by CzechTourism, its representative office in New York, and the independent Czech Convention Bureau in co-operation with the Prague Convention Bureau.

More than 40 representatives of local associations, corporations, event planners and the media participated in networking evenings in each city, where, in addition to representatives of destinations themselves, they had the opportunity to meet representatives of Prague hotels and DMCs. Of the Prague hotels, K+K Hotel and the company Maxin Prague were represented, and in Chicago Maxin Prague, InterContinental Hotels, Senator Meetings & Incentives and CPI Hotels were represented.

Gala evenings were attended in Washington, D.C. by a representative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the United States, and in Chicago and Toronto by the respective General Consul.

Each event featured a quiz for participants with questions related to points of interest in the Czech Republic and destination presentations showing the best that the Czech Republic has to offer from a conference-hosting perspective. There was a drawing for attractive prizes at the end of each evening. The main prize for the winner was an educational trip to the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic was presented as a safe destination offering extensive possibilities for organising MICE events, as well as tourist, incoming and conference opportunities in the “Heart of Europe”. The country’s rich cultural tradition and superb Czech gastronomy were also highlighted.

The roadshow culminated with participation in the AIBTM international exposition, held from 11–13 June in Chicago.
