Winter Fun & Relaxation
Winter fun in the Czech mountains definitely doesn’t end with downhill and cross-country skiing! Put the skis away for a bit and enjoy other activities you can do in Bohemian and Moravian mountains! You won’t get bored here in winter!

Peace, Quiet and Beautiful Views While Ski Touring

You’ll have the mountains all to yourselves on the ski touring trails marked by mountain guides in cooperation with national parks. Take the ski touring trail to Špičák in Šumava, the high mountain loop trails around Harrachov, Špindlerův Mlýn or Rokytnice nad Jizerou. You can also take a ski trip from Trutnov to Rýchorská Chalet and explore the ski touring trails in the Kraličák mountain resort. You might also like the trails through the picturesque countryside of the Beskids, easy climbs from Dolní Morava or a trip through the winter wonderland of the Jeseníky Mountains from Kouty to Praděd, with refreshments available at the nearby Švýcárna Mountain Chalet. You won’t be disappointed with Alpine skiing in the Czech mountains!

Snowshoes and Winter Hiking - Experience the Beauty of the Czech Mountains on Your Feet

Explore the mountains on snow expeditions! You can enjoy winter hiking with amazing views along hundreds of groomed trails on the ridges of the Javorníky, the Jizera Mountains, Krkonoše and Jeseníky. Snowshoes are an ideal choice if you want to peacefully observe the winter countryside without any limitations. Snowshoes allow you to make short or long hiking trips in deep snow to mountain chalets or mountain peaks. You will love hiking in snowshoes in Šumava, in the Beskids, in Králický Sněžník or in the Lusatian Mountains!

Skate straight to the treetops

Even though the Šumava Mountains are an oasis of calm and harmonic nature, you certainly will not be bored here! When severe frosts hit, lace up some skates and set off on the longest skating track in the world! It measures 11 kilometres and can be found on the surface of the biggest Czech reservoir, Lipno. Not far from here you can walk among the treetops. You don’t believe it? Just climb up Kramolín Hill and head to the Treetop Trail, all the way to the 40-metre look-out tower, where you will enjoy magnificent views, sometimes even as far as the Alps. The trail, in places as high as 24 metres above the ground, has several adrenaline-inducing stops along the way but saves the best for last – a slide down the longest dry toboggan in the Czech Republic.

Enjoy Heaps of Fun! Go Sledging and Snow Tubing

Make wonderful memories to remember for many years and go snow tubing – an adrenaline ride on special rubber tubes in snow tracks – or go sledging to special sledge tracks. You can try the 3.5-kilometre-long Černá Hora sledge track! But you can also enjoy heaps of fun when sledging in Špindlerův Mlýn, in Dolní Morava below Králický Sněžník or in the Jizera Mountains. And how about getting fast on one of the best bobsleigh tracks in Central Europe?

Through the snowy hills behind barking dogs and even with the wind

Or would you rather be invigorated by that special feeling that gold prospectors and polar hunters once experienced as they raced across the snowy plains on a dog sled? You can experience it for yourself on the plains around Horní Maxov. Would you like to whiz through the winter landscape even faster? This possibility exists in the Krušné Mountains! In Boží Dar you can try snowkiting, where you just let your kite catch the wind and then enjoy a thrilling ride through the surrounding hills.

Highlight of the Day? Wellness!

The snow sparkles just like stars in the sky and steam slowly rises from the hot tub... It’s always a good idea to get in the hot bubbles after a day spent freezing outside in the winter mountains. Get pampered in a wellness zone, whether in a hotel spa, a water park or one of the spa towns.
