CZECHIA - LAND OF THOUSAND HIKES
Like hiking? Czechia is the land of a thousand trips
No matter who gave you the best foot massage, we believe our hiking trails can do an even better job. Active holiday or a spa break? Have both at once.

The best hiking in the world

Slip into your trekking boots, grab a Nording walking pole, put a cap on and set off on an adventure. Hikers have it perfect here in Czechia. Hiking tours let you admire the country’s beautiful scenery and sights, and you can also get the most amazing views in Czechia. Czechia’s marked footpaths are a major plus, not to mention that you won’t find them anywhere else in the world. Don’t worry. You don't have to have walked thousands of kilometres to enjoy it here in Czechia.

In Czechia, you can opt for a laid-back stroll to explore whatever you fancy: natural Alpine-style scenery or ancient primaeval forests, take in some culture (to see the art of glassmaking, wine or beer, original trade routes, trails in former mining regions), or take a spiritual walk to visit sacred sites. There’s also one unique attraction you won’t see anywhere else in the world: the longest pedestrian suspension bridge, the Sky Bridge, which links two mountain ridges.

Up to the mountain tops!

With more than 40,000 kilometres of marked footpaths (enough to encircle the planet Earth!), Czechia has one of the densest networks of hiking trails in the world. And if that weren't enough! It also has the best trail marking system in the world, so you really don't have to worry about getting lost.

As for natural trails, we recommend the region known as Toulava, ranked as one of the best hiking routes in Europe. It’s the first Czech hiking trail to be awarded the prestigious European certification Leading Quality Trails Best of Europe. It takes you through the deep valley of the Lužnice River, past old mills and ruins, and through the historical towns of Tábor and Bechyně.

An amazing suspension bridge

Another beautiful route passes through some remarkable rock massifs in the northwestern part of the Jizera Mountain Beech Forest in the national nature reserve of the same name. This is one of the most valuable as well as loveliest parts of the Jizera Mountains. The beech forests in the Jizera Mountains were Czechia’s first natural heritage site to be listed by UNESCO.

For those who fancy trying a hike spread over several days, besides the unique Czech Trail, which runs from the westernmost to the easternmost point in Czechia, there’s the amazing Ridge Route, the most beautiful long-distance hiking trail that runs through the Bohemian Switzerland National Park. A total of more than 100 km. You can hike it from the foothills of the Ore Mountains as far as the first hills of the Lusatian Mountains.

And one absolutely incredible attraction is wholly unique: The Sky Bridge near the mountain resort of Dolní Morava. This suspension footbridge is 721 metres long and you walk across it at a height of 95 metres above the ground. After crossing the valley on the bridge, on the other side you have a unique opportunity view of the picturesque surrounding countryside. The suspension bridge was ranked as one of the best places in the world in 2022 by American Time magazine.

Pilgrims, stop off here!

A real must for spiritual pilgrims are the holy routes, including the famous Way of St. James, which runs through Czechia. These pilgrimage routes are as diverse as our country, with monasteries, charming churches, little chapels and other legacies from the life of our ancestors. It’s also worth taking a trip to visit the Premonstratensian Monastery in Želiv in Vysočina, modified by architect Jan Blažej Santini after an extensive fire in the early 18th century. There are also beautiful walks to the two most important pilgrimage sites: Hostýn and Velehrad.

The best way to round off a day of hiking is to relax in one of Czechia’s many wellness resorts:
