The Prague Spring International Music Festival

A festival of different genres: May 12, 2024 – June 3, 2024

The Prague Spring International Music Festival
The Prague Spring International Music Festival, the largest and oldest classical music festival in Czechia, is one of our cultural highlights. The 79th year will take place from May 12th to June 3rd, 2024, and offers 50 concerts in various Prague concert and music halls.

This year belongs to the great celebrations of Czech music and the 200th birthday of one of the world's most important composers, Bedřich Smetana. The festival will open on May 12 and 13, 2024 with Smetana's cycle of symphonic poems My Fatherland performed by the Berlin Philharmonic.

Different festival locations

The festival takes place in different locations: in the Prague Municipal Hall, in the National Theater, in the Rudolfinum, in Kampa Park, in the Agnes Monastery (Anežský klášter) or in the National Technical Museum.
On May 16th at the Rudolfinum, listen to Robert Schumann's famous song cycle for a singing voice (soprano) and piano "Women's Love and Life" in conjunction with songs by Scandinavian composers in a uniquely designed program.

In the concert on May 17th in the Rudolfinum, you will hear the music of Italian masters from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and in the Forum Karlín, you will experience a great concert with fifty pianos sounding at the same time.

The creation of the Prague Spring International Music Festival is associated with the first celebrations to mark the end of the Second World War. Since that time, it has been a center of attraction for music lovers and outstanding performers. Leonard Bernstein, who later became one of the most important conductors, made his debut in Prague in 1946 and 1947.
