Not just water fun

Lake Mácha is located an hour from Prague and offers many opportunities for everyone who likes water fun. You will not only enjoy various sporting activities, but you will also discover a fascinating view of the region from Bezděz Castle.
On the main beaches of Lake Mácha in Doksy and Staré Splavy, there are popular water slides, slides, trampolines, water swings and other attractions. In many places small boats, pedal boats and SUPs can be rented and, from May to September, the lake is is paddled by cruise liners. In winter, in addition to skaters and cross-country skiers, yachtsmen also sail cross-country on specially designed sailboats to Lake Mácha. Nature trails and marked and excursion circuits abound.
 
Near to the lake is the town of Doksy, where you will find everything essential to any well-established recreational area: hotels and guesthouses, landscaped beaches and paths, a Renaissance castle with a park and, moreover, a still preserved historic centre with several authentic timbered buildings. If you want to learn more about the history of this area, then visit the information centre in Doksy, where they will give you tips for trips to the surrounding area. The ruins of Castle Bezděz are another popular tourist area. A strenuous climb awaits you, but a fascinating view of the region will reward you for your effort. If you prefer flat terrain, head out to the Lake Mácha area to see bizarre rock formations and enter a landscape of romantic rock ravines on the way to Brandenburg Cave (Braniborská jeskyně) or Břehyň Pond.
